Ricky & Yaz wedding day
Ricky & Yaz had a beautiful traditional wedding service in Sandown on the Isle of Wight at the stunning St Johns Church followed by the reception at the Cygnet Hotel. After the service despite the bitter cold wind we went down to the pier and beach for a few pic's then it was party time

Ages: 22 (Yaz) and 21 (Ricky)
Wedding date: 25th February 2017
Venue: St. Johns Church, Sandown and then onto the Cygnet Hotel, Sandown.
How did you guys meet, tell me all? We first met working in the Merrie Garden, in Lake, but we really got to know each other after a night out. After that we basically spent every Friday night, for 3 months, just getting the know each other and also what we actually wanted in life. After this thing moved quite quickly, but we were both really happy and knew it was what we wanted.
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
We got engaged at the prince of wales pub in Cowes where I had booked a night in their hotel room, Yaz didn’t have a clue until I had gone to the bar to order dinner and came back and got down on one knee with the ring. Yaz was speechless and I don’t think she believed me at first. I had our bags packed and in the boot of the car ready for our night away but forgot the pill :/
We then had to go back home to get it and of course Yaz was excited to show off the ring to her mum and dad where we were living at the time.
By time we got back to the hotel Yaz was already looking at dresses, shoes, etc.
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many? We didn’t look at many churches as I (Yaz) had always wanted and knew that one day I would get married there, as I have been living on the island for 15 years it held a lot of memories me and my family. For the reception we looked and enquired about quite a few different places across Sandown, but with a lot of our families being elderly and young children we thought that the Cygnet hotel would be best as it is so close to the church.
What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding? Because of the date of the wedding and it still technically winter, I have always wanted a winter wedding, we thought it only fitting to have a blue theme, also where we had, my dream come true, horse and carriage I wanted more of a Disney Cinderella style dress and color.
What is your first song and why? All the way through the planning we were stuck between two songs for our first dance, these were Count on me by Bruno Mars and A Thousand Years by Christina Perri. In the end we went with A Thousand Years as the lyrics just meant so much to us both and we had always listened to it quite a lot, plus Yaz was quite obsessed with the Twilight Saga and this song was the main song for the final saga. Although we decided not to go with Count on me, we did however use this to sign our register too.
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding? Hire a wedding planner!! Lol. No the main thing we would advise is get it all paid for ASAP and remember it’s not what you know it’s who you know.
