Macro photography

Macro photography is a fascinating form of photography where you use specialist ( usually ) lenses that can see the object at a 1:1 (life size) or more ratio, this will give you an amazing insight of how small insects and plants really look like.

The camera that I use is the Nikon D800 with a Nikon 105mm macro lens. although the results are very good some modern bridge cameras with a diopter added will give as good if not better results.

[ Due to advances in sensor technology, today’s small-sensor digital cameras can rival the macro capabilities of a dslr with a “true” macro lens, despite having a lower reproduction ratio, making macro photography more widely accessible at a lower cost. In the digital age, a "true" macro photograph can be more practically defined as a photograph with a vertical subject height of 24 mm or less.] (Wikipedia)

Now to the best part, some images that I have recently taken.
